Ecommerce analytics platform: ecommerce analytics tools and software that put ad spend, Shopify orders, and Stripe revenue in one view

Every ecommerce brand past its first million reaches the same morning routine: open Shopify, open Meta Ads Manager, open Google Ads, open GA4, and try to work out which number to believe. Meta claims 4.2 ROAS, Google claims it drove most of the revenue, GA4 shows a third figure, and Shopify quietly reports less money than all three combined.

None of those tools is broken. They are answering different questions with different attribution rules over different date ranges, and each one is counting conversions it is incentivized to claim. An ecommerce analytics platform is the layer that stops you arbitrating between them by hand. It reads spend straight from the ad accounts, revenue straight from the store and the billing system, and divides one by the other.

This page covers what the category actually includes, how the main ecommerce analytics tools price in 2026, which data source can answer which question, and the specific reasons your platform totals will never match your Shopify total. Pricing below was read off each vendor's own page in August 2026.

The short answer

An ecommerce analytics platform joins what you spend on ads to what your store actually banked, so you can read blended ROAS, blended CAC, and MER in one place instead of adding up four dashboards that disagree. Shopify reports orders, GA4 reports sessions, and each ad network reports the conversions it wants credit for, which is why the numbers never tie out. MixedMetrics connects Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, GA4, Search Console, Shopify, Stripe, and Klaviyo or HubSpot read-only and computes the blended figures daily. From $79 per month, flat.

Why it works

What you get with ecommerce analytics platform

01

Spend and revenue in one place

Ad spend from every connected network sits beside settled Shopify and Stripe revenue, so blended ROAS is a division, not a debate.

02

Flat price, not a GMV slider

Most ecommerce analytics platforms reprice as your store grows. This one is $79 a month whether you do $50k or $5m.

03

Read-only, set up the same day

Connectors authorize read-only, nothing is written back to any store or ad account, and the first board populates within the hour.

What it covers

Connect, blend, and see what is driving revenue

MixedMetrics turns scattered platform numbers into one blended read-out of ROAS, CAC, MER, and revenue, with AI that flags where spend is leaking.

  • See blended ROAS, blended CAC, and MER across every ad network at once
  • Compare platform-reported revenue against what Shopify and Stripe actually settled
  • Track contribution by channel without rebuilding a spreadsheet each month
  • Spot the campaign whose CAC outran its revenue before the month closes
  • Keep store history past the point GA4 deletes its standard event data

In depth

How to choose an ecommerce analytics platform

What is an ecommerce analytics platform?

An ecommerce analytics platform is software that pulls data from your store, your ad accounts, and your billing system into one place and reports on the business rather than on any single channel. The defining feature is the join: it holds cost and revenue in the same table, which is what makes blended ROAS, blended CAC, MER, and LTV:CAC computable at all.

That is a narrower category than it sounds. Shopify Analytics reports the store. GA4 reports the website. Meta and Google report their own campaigns. Each is genuinely good at its own job and structurally unable to do this one, because none of them can see the other side of the equation. The platform layer exists purely because that gap is real.

It is worth separating the platform from a pipeline. Tools like Supermetrics and Coupler.io move marketing data into a destination you already own, such as Google Sheets, Looker Studio, or BigQuery. They are excellent at extraction and they leave the modeling, the blending, and the maintenance to you. A platform ships the model.

What are the best ecommerce analytics tools in 2026?

There is no single best one, and any page that names a winner without asking your ad spend is selling something. The honest split runs on budget and on how much attribution precision you actually need. Under roughly $50k a month in ad spend, a flat-rate blended dashboard answers almost every question you will ask, and MixedMetrics costs $79 a month. Above a few hundred thousand a month, a dedicated multi-touch vendor like Northbeam starts to earn its $1,500 to $3,500 monthly floor.

The middle is where the category gets crowded. Triple Whale and Polar Analytics both target Shopify brands with rich attribution and AI query layers, and both price against your GMV, so the quote grows with the store. Databox and Looker Studio are cheaper and more general, and both hand you more assembly work. Supermetrics is the answer when you have a warehouse or a Looker Studio habit and want the raw rows.

One filter cuts the list faster than any feature grid: ask whether the vendor publishes a price. Polar Analytics, Northbeam, Adverity and Domo all route you to a sales call. That is not disqualifying, but it tells you the deal will be sized to your revenue rather than listed, and it means the cheapest quote you see will not be the one you renew on.

Why do my Shopify revenue and Meta Ads Manager ROAS not match?

Because they are counting different things over different windows. Shopify records money that settled, net of refunds and failed payments, on the day the order was paid. Meta records conversions it believes it caused, books them to the date of the click rather than the date of the sale, and counts anything inside its attribution window. Google Ads does the same thing over a window up to three times longer.

Add the platform numbers together and you will usually overstate real revenue by 20 to 40 percent, because two networks routinely claim the same order. A shopper who clicked a Meta ad on Monday and a Google ad on Thursday appears in both accounts as a full conversion. Neither platform is lying; each is reporting its own contribution with no knowledge of the other.

The practical fix is to stop trying to reconcile them line by line and to change the denominator instead. Blended ROAS divides total settled revenue by total spend across every network, which is a number no platform can inflate. It is less precise about credit and far more honest about outcome. There is a longer treatment of the mismatch in why ad platform numbers do not match.

Does an ecommerce analytics platform handle Amazon sales?

This is the trap most brands running Amazon alongside a DTC store fall into, and it is worth stating plainly: Amazon Ads purchases complete on Amazon and never touch your store. If you sell on both, you are running two separate revenue pools, and no dashboard that reads only Shopify will ever see the Amazon side.

That changes the math rather than breaking it. Blended ROAS across a combined spend number and a Shopify-only revenue number is simply wrong, and it will look like your advertising suddenly stopped working. Either keep the two pools separate and compute blended figures within each, or bring Seller Central revenue in deliberately before you divide.

Amazon also runs its own attribution windows: Sponsored Products reports 7 days in Seller Central and 14 in Vendor Central, while Sponsored Brands, Display and DSP all report 14 days. MixedMetrics has no Amazon Ads connector today, and saying so is more useful than implying otherwise. If Amazon is a material share of your revenue, weight that heavily in your choice.

How much does ecommerce analytics software cost?

The floor is free and the ceiling is five figures a month. GA4, the self-service tier of Looker Studio, Shopify Analytics, and the Triple Whale Founders Dash all cost nothing, and they cost you hours instead. The working middle of the market runs from about $79 to $750 a month: MixedMetrics at $79 flat, Databox from $64 on annual billing, Triple Whale Foundation at $219, Supermetrics from EUR 39, Triple Whale Automate at $749.

Above that sits the quoted tier. Northbeam publishes $1,500 a month for brands spending under $1.5m a year on ads and $3,500 a month for spend up to $500k a month, though every tier still asks you to contact sales. Polar Analytics, Adverity and Domo publish no figures at all.

The variable that actually decides your bill is what the vendor meters. Watch for GMV sliders, per-client pricing, per-connected-account credits, destination limits, and seat caps, because the advertised entry price rarely survives contact with a real stack. The marketing data platform pricing comparison breaks down what each vendor meters, and marketing reporting software pricing covers the reporting side.

Which ecommerce metrics belong on the platform?

Keep the board to numbers someone will act on this week. From the store: orders, settled revenue, average order value, refund rate, and new versus returning customers. From the ad accounts: spend, clicks, and platform-reported conversions per network, kept clearly labeled as platform-reported. From billing: recurring revenue and churn if you sell subscriptions.

The ratios on top are what leadership reads, and none of them can be computed inside any single source. Blended ROAS answers whether marketing paid for itself. Blended CAC answers what a customer cost across everything. MER shows total revenue over total spend. LTV:CAC decides whether you can afford to spend more, and 3:1 is the usual floor.

  • Orders, settled revenue, AOV and refund rate, from Shopify or Stripe
  • Spend, clicks and platform-reported conversions, per network
  • Blended ROAS and blended CAC, computed across every source
  • MER and LTV:CAC, for the spending decision rather than the campaign decision

Do I need an ecommerce analytics platform if I already have GA4?

Keep GA4 either way; it is where on-site behavior is collected and a platform reads from it rather than replacing it. What GA4 cannot do is hold your settled revenue or your full cross-network spend, so the efficiency ratios stay out of reach no matter how you configure it.

One thing has genuinely changed and is worth correcting: GA4 now auto-imports ad spend from Meta, Pinterest, Reddit, Snap and TikTok on a daily sync, alongside the long-standing Google Ads link. The claim that GA4 cannot see Meta spend is out of date in 2026. The join still only works when utm_id, utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign match your destination URLs exactly, and Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn and Amazon Ads remain a manual import.

The other limit is time. Standard GA4 properties keep event data for 2 or 14 months and default to 14, so a genuine year-over-year comparison quietly becomes impossible. Full detail sits on the Google Analytics dashboard page, and the metric-by-metric view is on the ecommerce analytics dashboard.

Good questions

Questions about ecommerce analytics platform

It depends on ad spend. Under roughly $50k a month, a flat-rate blended dashboard such as MixedMetrics at $79 a month answers nearly every question. Shopify-native tools like Triple Whale and Polar Analytics add deeper attribution and price against GMV. Above a few hundred thousand a month in spend, a multi-touch vendor like Northbeam becomes worth its floor.
It is enough for store-side questions: orders, average order value, repeat purchase rate, and which products sell. It cannot see spend in any ad account, so it can never tell you ROAS, CAC, or MER. Those need a tool that holds cost and revenue together.
Free to about $3,500 a month. GA4, Looker Studio self-service, and Shopify Analytics cost nothing. The working middle runs $79 to $749 a month, including MixedMetrics at $79 flat and Triple Whale from $219. Northbeam publishes $1,500 and $3,500 tiers, and Polar Analytics publishes no price at all.
A pipeline such as Supermetrics or Coupler.io extracts marketing data and delivers it to a destination you own, leaving the modeling to you. A platform ships the model, so blended ROAS and CAC are already computed. Pipelines suit teams with a warehouse; platforms suit teams who want the answer today.
Rarely, and Amazon is the reason. Amazon Ads purchases complete on Amazon and never reach your store, so Shopify-connected tools do not see that revenue. MixedMetrics has no Amazon Ads connector. If Amazon is a material share of revenue, treat it as a second pool or pick a tool that reads Seller Central.
MixedMetrics connectors authorize read-only and nothing is written back to any connected store, ad account, or billing system. Data is kept aggregated with no personally identifiable information. Other vendors vary, and pixel-based attribution tools usually ask you to install tracking on your storefront.
Usually under an hour. You authorize read-only connections to the ad accounts, the store, and the billing system, and the first board populates the same day. There is no data model to design and no query to maintain, which is the main practical difference from building it in Looker Studio.
No. There is no white label client portal, no warehouse export, and no Amazon, Microsoft, or LinkedIn Ads connector. Agencies that must ship branded client dashboards should look at AgencyAnalytics or DashThis instead. The agency reporting software comparison covers per-client cost across those tools.
