A Shopify brand doing $2 million a year pays $549 or $1,349 a month on Triple Whale, $510 or $720 on Polar Analytics, and from $1,500 on Northbeam. Order-based profit apps cost $35 to $249 a month, and a blended ROAS board costs $79 to $199. The spread is more than tenfold, and most of it comes down to one choice: whether you are paying for attribution software or for a clear answer to "is our ad spend paying back?"
Every price below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or app listing. Triple Whale and Polar both price on annual gross merchandise value (GMV), so we priced them at exactly $2 million. Northbeam prices on ad spend, and the profit apps on orders, so we note the assumption beside each one.
What a $2M Shopify brand pays for analytics software
| Tool and plan | Per month | Per year | Priced on | How you buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Triple Whale Free | $0 | $0 | Annual GMV | Self-serve |
| Triple Whale Foundation | $549 | $6,588 | Annual GMV ($1M to $2.5M bracket) | 12-month term, self-serve |
| Triple Whale Automate | $1,349 | $16,188 | Annual GMV ($1M to $2.5M bracket) | 12-month term, self-serve |
| Polar Analytics Business Intelligence | $510 | $6,120 | Annual GMV (under $5M band) | Demo |
| Polar Analytics Core Plan | $720 | $8,640 | Annual GMV (under $5M band) | Demo |
| Northbeam | From $1,500 | From $18,000 | Ad spend under $1.5M a year | Sales call |
| TrueProfit | $35 to $200 | $420 to $2,400 | Monthly orders | Shopify App Store |
| BeProfit | $49 to $249 | $468 to $2,390 annual | Monthly orders | Shopify App Store |
| MixedMetrics Starter | $79, or $39 billed yearly | $468 billed yearly | Flat plan, 5 sources | Self-serve |
| MixedMetrics Growth | $199, or $99 billed yearly | $1,188 billed yearly | Flat plan, 15 sources | Self-serve |
Triple Whale annual prices assume monthly billing; paying a year up front takes two months off. A $2 million store averaging about $70 an order ships roughly 2,400 orders a month, which puts it on the upper profit app tiers, TrueProfit Enterprise at $200 or BeProfit Plus at $249.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Triple Whale for a Shopify brand doing $2M a year?
Yes, and which one depends on what you open Triple Whale to do. If you use it as a Shopify operating suite with attribution, the closest like-for-like is Polar Analytics, and at $2 million it is roughly a wash: Polar Business Intelligence at $510 is $39 under Triple Whale Foundation, while Polar Core at $720 is $171 over it. Our full Polar Analytics pricing table shows how that flips from $2.5 million up, where Polar Core is cheaper than Foundation at every size we priced.
If you mostly use it to see profit per order after cost of goods, shipping and ad spend, a profit app does that job for a fraction of the price. And if what you check every Monday is total spend against total revenue, by channel, you are paying a GMV-priced suite to show you blended ROAS and MER. A blended board does exactly that for $79 to $199 a month, at a price that never moves with your revenue.
Why GMV pricing costs a $2M brand more than a $10M one
Both Triple Whale and Polar sell in GMV bands, and a band charges everyone inside it the same amount. That makes the small end of each band the expensive place to be. On Polar, a $1 million store and a $4.9 million store both pay $720 a month on Core. For the first that is 0.86 percent of GMV; for the second it is 0.18 percent.
Triple Whale's brackets are narrower at this size, which is why it is the cheaper suite at $2 million and the dearer one above $2.5 million. Its Foundation plan steps from $429 at $500K to $1M, to $549 at $1M to $2.5M, then $799 at $2.5M to $5M. A brand growing from $2.4 million to $2.6 million moves up a bracket automatically and pays $250 a month more for the same product. Triple Whale says it notifies you in advance, and an annual prepaid plan locks your tier for the year, which is worth doing if you expect to cross a line.
Run the same exercise on a flat-priced tool and the cost as a share of GMV only falls as you grow. It is the main reason we price MixedMetrics on connected sources and seats rather than revenue.
Which analytics software a $2M Shopify brand actually needs
At $2 million, most brands run Meta and Google, often TikTok, plus Klaviyo, on a buying cycle of days rather than months. The software question splits into three jobs, and very few brands need all three on day one.
Profit per order and per product
If your margin varies a lot by product, or shipping and discounts eat into it unevenly, you want a store profit and loss view. TrueProfit and BeProfit are built for exactly this, priced on orders, bought from the Shopify App Store with a trial. We compare them line by line in ProfitMetrics alternatives. When the month closes, your bookkeeper can turn the same numbers into a board-ready P&L from the bookkeeping export rather than rebuilding it by hand.
Is total ad spend paying back
This is the weekly decision: hold, cut or scale. It needs total ad spend from every platform set against the revenue Shopify and Stripe actually recorded, which gives blended ROAS, MER and blended CAC. Platform-reported ROAS will not do it, because Meta and Google both claim the same orders and their totals add up to more than you sold. A blended board answers this from $79 a month; the AI layer that flags where spend is leaking comes with Growth at $199.
Which ad, campaign or creative earned the sale
This is attribution, and it is where Triple Whale, Polar and Northbeam earn their prices: pixels, multi-touch models, creative-level reporting. It pays off when your spend is large enough that moving budget between campaigns is worth thousands a month. If your ad spend is a few hundred thousand dollars a year spread over a handful of campaigns, an attribution suite can cost more than the budget shifts it would ever justify, and fixing the blended number first usually pays back sooner.
What to check before you sign a GMV-priced contract
- The term. Triple Whale paid plans are 12-month subscriptions even when billed monthly. Ask Polar on the demo how its term and billing work.
- Where you sit in the band. If you will cross a band edge in the next six months, price the next band, not the current one.
- What counts as GMV. Ask whether wholesale, marketplace and refunded orders are included, because they can move you up a band.
- The add-ons. Polar Core includes Klaviyo Audiences; if you will not use it, Business Intelligence alone is $210 a month cheaper at $2 million.
- Whether you can see your numbers first. Triple Whale has a free plan; Polar and Northbeam sell through a call.
Our recommendation at $2M a year
Start with the cheapest tool that answers the question you actually ask every week. For most $2 million Shopify brands that is blended ROAS and MER across every channel, which our Shopify analytics dashboard shows on one live board, connected read-only, at $79 a month or $39 billed yearly. Add a profit app if per-product margin is the problem, and move to Triple Whale or Polar when attribution decisions are big enough to pay for them. If you are already on Triple Whale and wincing at the next bracket, our Triple Whale alternative page has its full GMV ladder and the rest of the field. Plans are on the pricing page.
